Located less than 10 minutes from The Beagle Motor Inn!
Katherine Hot Springs is a must when visiting the region, and it’s just a 7 minute drive from your accommodation staying at The Beagle Motor Inn!
Situated on the banks of the Katherine River, these natural thermal springs are made up of a series of clear pools surrounded by lush native vegetation.
Springs pump the water from deep below ground and enjoy a mild temperature that averages around 25 to 30 degrees celsius, which makes them particularly enjoyable during the cooler dry months.
Many believe in the healing properties of water and it’s a great way to loosen tired muscles after a day of exploring and sightseeing.
The Katherine Hot Springs boasts a main pool with a gravel bed to keep the sediment disturbance to a minimum, so that the water looks at it’s crystal clear best.
You’ll also discover a raised walking platform from which you can view the source of the spring and from there you can follow the stream down the walking track to the main pool.
The hot springs also features several other pools, as well as a small waterfall created by a retaining wall.
There are grassy areas where you can relax and enjoy a picnic, as well as bike/walking paths that meander along the river bed, passing through River Red Gums/Ghost Gums a few kilometres to the Katherine Low Level Nature Reserve.
The pools are generally open from 7am to 7pm daily, though access may be restricted during September-April for the wet season dependent on river levels.
